Welcome back to the Parkwood Springs Artist Re-introduction blog series! Here we bring you an update on the wonderful and talented artists that we work with, catching you up on what they’ve been up to since their introduction, and what their plans are for the future. If you’ve been following us online, or work with us regularly, we hope you already know some of the artists and their work, but if not, we’ll get you caught up on the endlessly colourful world that is Parkwood Springs!

Lauren Thorley is a Sheffield based illustrator, making South Yorkshire her home now but originally being from Manchester. A graduate of Sheffield Hallam University, if Lauren isn’t busy designing bespoke artwork, you’ll find her working on her online shop, attending markers market, or working with licensing companies such as Parkwood Springs (hey - that’s us!).
Lauren’s biggest inspiration is nature. The natural world around is filled with millions of unique creatures that we share this world with, and the artwork you’ll find with Lauren shows her complete appreciation for these creatures. It is her refuge and fills her with a feeling that can’t be matched easily by anything else. As an artist, Lauren loves exploring the natural world, focusing on the rich and unique textures, colours, and stories that can be found there. Exploring areas of nature provides her a sense of mindfulness and calm in what can be a hectic world.
The majority of the artwork you’ll see from Lauren has drawn and designed by hand, using a stippling method called fineliners. This is a very meticulous art style used to get a deep level of detail from these creatures. This method for Lauren allows her to fully consider the subject, take her time with her artwork, and produce a range of stunning designs when it’s all complete.

As a versatile artist, Lauren uses a combination of Photoshop and classic pen and paper to create her designs - including the Sea Creatures range for Parkwood Springs! Using fineliners, stipple pieces are made to create elegant, incredibly detailed designs of Sea Horses, Lobsters, Jellyfish, Whales, Octopus, and Marlin.

All products in the Lauren Thorley giftware range by Parkwood Springs are made with sustainability in mind, integrating eco-friendly solutions at the very beginning of our process, rather than as an afterthought. Using compliant ink and recycling practises, printing on 100% recycled paper, and using digital printing which directly creates 75% less waste than other printing methods.
